Turkish shopkeepers stand guard in Dalston
For anyone out there who still thinks the London riots are caused by ‘immigrants’, consider this: in Dalston tonight, violence flared but was quickly extinguished thanks to the efforts of a group of Turkish shopkeepers who stood guard outside their businesses.
Shopkeepers have told The Guardian how they chased youths away after their shops came under attack. And it sounds like they were more effective than the police, who have apparently been largely absent from Dalston this evening, with events elsewhere in London drawing their attention.
Efforts to turn the London riots into a racial event have largely failed. The rioters are from all ethnic groups and are motivated not by ethnic divisions but by a variety of other factors: anger; social exclusion; desperation; sadism; boredom; and stupidity. As the Turkish shopkeepers of Dalston demonstrate, in many cases it’s immigrant communities who are most protective of their communities.

awesome news. the turks doing it because they cant be called racist. if a white brit did it , theyd be jailed. this is how insane the common law has become.
As an Aussie, I am ashamed of you, MK…this has nothing to do with racism ~ it’s all about brainless idiots out looting because they’re bored – pure mob mentality…The fact that it’s spread to Liverpool/Birmingham/Bristol as well shows how brainless mobs work…
Good on the business owners for standing up for themselves ~ I’ll be ordering some Turkish for dinner tonight…

The thing is; a Turk would just protect his property and not go further in action. You dude probably would not, and hunt after “blacks”, because you hate everything what is not same like you..
The Turks are white too and many of them who live in England are British. Turks did it because they are brave enough to protect themselves and others.
OK. My original comments are taking an age to be moderated. MK in Australia, if you truly have the audacity to comment on what is happening in london this evening from OZ, then goddamn you. I’m a White British Male and i’m watching this happening in real time. The Turks of Dalston have not only protected their businesses but they have also protected their community from which i am a part of. I only wish the people of Croyden, Camden, Kentish Town and now various communities of Liverpool, Manchester and Brum had community minded local “minorities”. If you are indeed commenting from OZ then I urge you to re think you opinions on something you clearly are not part of. So i say again, If i read you original comment correctly, F Off and die you red neck prick!!!!
No one messes with the Turks on Kingsland Road, even the rioters know this

I’m an Australian living in Dalston and last night I saw firsthand the Turkish community taking charge in our area and protecting our area! It was nothing short of phenomenal. I’m so ashamed of you MK in Australia. How ignorant are you?
